Happy Thursday y’all! Today’s Friday for all reasons that matter – no kiddos tomorrow! But my goodness, did my poor firsties ever earn this 3 day weekend!!?? For the first time in my teaching career, I had to give a full blown, fill in the bubbles, lock up the testing booklets while at lunch, STANDARDIZED TEST!! Oh IOWAs, how I’m (as are my kiddos) SOOO over you! For the first grade test, it’s soooo much reading to them and I am sooooo sick of hearing my voice. I can’t imagine how they feel!! (This is coming from the teacher who frequently says and MEANS “I don’t talk just to hear my own voice!!”) Anyway, we’re ALMOST DONE testing! We took a break to relax yesterday during our specials free Wednesday afternoon – – – snacks in the sunshine with these cutie patooties, anyone?! ….
So, with the school year winding down (11 MORE DAYS WITH KIDSSS), I always try to get my classroom reorganized and neatened up beyond my normal OCD standards for my classroom throughout the school year. Yesterday, I was on a ROLL getting things done, and, after sharing a few pen obsessions and preferences with a coworker who has similar pen obsessions and preferences, I decided that I needed to reorganize and clean up my pen cups . . . whichhh led to reorganizing my “teacher markers” drawer . . . .whichhhh looked a little something like this…
Mr. Sketch anyone?! |
I may or may not have a separate marker box of JUST sharpies and sharpie pens that aren’t included in this picture. The ones that are in this picture are old. I like new sharpies. Therefore, I save the new ones and keep them separate for the most perfect purposes. 🙂 Also – in ALL OF THAT – I have not ONE skinny blue marker. I have skinny Crayolas and skinny Mr. Sketches but not one skinny blue one. I guess I better keep cleaning and organizing, cause lord knows, as do you if you know me at all, that’ll drive me crazy if not solved 🙂 Those of you who are still reading, thank you for understanding me and accepting me for who I am. This beautiful stack of organized markers is (yes, is – it agrees with stack) who I am. Another thing that testing week has surrounded me with that I love you ask?? . . . And I’m not sure if it’s a teacher thing or just a dork (intellectual genius according to Dr. Cooper) thing. . . .
There’s just something about a freshly sharpened stack of #2s. love. |
In other news – I finally got to get back to Toona town this weekend! There is just something about seeing a Sheetz on every corner that makes me warm and fuzzy inside 🙂 Being home brings me to a ridiculously happy place, and this weekend was more of the same. We got to hang out with my mom, aunts and grandmas (yes, just an s, no apostrophe, I’m not telling you about anything that belongs to any one of them<3) for Mother’s Day, (see, now, this day belongs to mom – hence, the apostrophe) …
mother’s day dinner 🙂 |
… AND I got to spend some time with my best friend in the world celebrating Rusty’s baptism on her 1ST Mother’s Day!! Needless to say, I’m sure the weekend couldn’t have been better.
happy baptism to the only baby I’ve ever held 🙂 love him!! |
