Well, I’ve had 2 full days now of SuMmEr and I’ve already checked some things off of my summer to-do list! And YES, they are school related. 🙂 I can’t help myself. I’ve gotta take advantage of extra free time, right?! By July, I’ll probably find the love in sitting on the couch doing NOTHING, but for now, I’m creating, pinning, making, and organizing at full speed, and I’m okay with that!
Shockingly, my summer to-do list was already started at some point in May, but my dear friend, Jen, sent this AWESOME SUMMER TO-DO PACK freebie to me on the last day of school, and well, I put it right to work. I have recently found the love for my Google calendar that syncs with my ipad/iphone, but there’s just something about writing dates on a (colorful and cute) calendar that I love. And somehow, my June seems just about over with all of the dates I have coming up! . . .
Um, we somehow are celebrating our 1 year anniversary THIS month?! |
For a few years now, I’ve planned to add a bit more of some color coordination to my binders/shelves/drawers/other organized places in my classroom, and I made some polka dotted labels today that I almost went into school to laminate – I guess it IS only 1:00… maybe I’ll still go later 🙂 Anyway – I made labels for my Teacher Toolbox – which is plain and boring right now (I’ll post before and after pics of that once I do decide to head into school), as well as for my shelves/books. Here they are! . . .

The font is a new fave from Kevin and Amanda called Pass the Chex that I’m kind of in love with. Hopefully my overuse of it in a few projects today will help to pull together my color coordination in my classroom like I’m planning!
I’m also diving into the Daily 5 this year. I tried pieces of it last year, but this year, I’d like to kick off the school year with it, complete with cute signs 🙂
Check, check and CHECK . . .
So, something non school related that WASN’T on my to-do list that I accomplished yesterday? A semi-successful updo! I spent a lot of time yesterday on Pinterest, reorganizing/renaming my boards and I stumbled accross an updo tutorial, which led me to a cute blog full of hair style videos. So as I kept looking, I found this video: The Chic Updo
I watched the video, and was naturally skeptical about how easy she made it look (this coming from the girl who has poker straight hair and has one hair style – poker straight or sometimes I get fancy and wear a bobby pin to hold some of poker straightness out of my face) . . . so I skeptically gave it a try and SHOCKINGLY was able to sort of do it!
The best part – it took me LITERALLY 3 minutes after I curled my hair! And I did it twice, just to see if I lucked out the first time, but I did it even better the 2nd time! Vegas/beach/anniversary dinner are all coming up, so I figure I can try it again when I’m NOT wearing mesh shorts and a t-shirt 🙂
Okay, off to check more off of my list – possibly head to school?!? – and start my ‘to-pack’ piles for the beach 🙂 (t minus 10!)
Enjoy the sunshine, y’all!
