Happy Sunday!! As much fun as the last three weekends of my life have been – from hosting a Ohio State/Wisconsin tailgate party for 20 people, to being the MOH in my seester’s weddinggg, to tailgating with the BEST in Happy Valley, I can’t tell you how happy of a Sunday it is to have NO plans other than school to dos, house work (checked off the list hours ago), blogging about a little bit of everything (currently in progress), and FOOTBALL! 🙂 I LOVE our family and friends, but man-oh-man the peace and quiet of our house sure beats a 4 hour car ride or a hustle-bustle filled weekend!
SO I bring you a little bit of everything from the last week . . . including my September SLANT box from my teacher blogging buddy Jameson from Lessons with Coffee ! Check. this. out. 🙂
Changing gears quite a bit. . . this week is ANNUALLY a significant week in our house. We, if you don’t know, have a house divided when it comes to football. Mom provided us with a new wreath this year to announce it to the small bit of the world that didn’t already know….
. . . I BLEEEEED blue and white (I mean, I have Beaver Stadium on my filing cabinet, I’ve gone as JoePa for Halloween anddDd my OHIO NATIVE 2nd graders regularly ask me to play them the Penn State fight song). And, well, my husband… is a bit of a buckeye fanatic. So, as I usually explain to people, I love him from Sundays to Fridays during football season. This is magnified a BIT on Penn State Ohio State Saturday week. . . .which, did I mention, is this week? Saturdays don’t get more tense that that for us. I’m talking separate rooms when we watch this game at home and quiet car rides home on our way home from watching it from our seats in the stadium . . . Last year during this week, I thought it’d be fun to reflect back on the last 10 years of Penn State/Ohio State, so feel free to check that post out here!
We have spent more of our Penn State/Ohio State Saturdays in a stadium than we have in separate rooms, and this year will be no exception. I’m PUMPED to be headed to Columbus to cheer on my Nittany Lions with my parents next week!! I’m pumped to be headed there with my hubby, too….but I’ll save the “cheer(ing) on the Nittany Lions” level of pumped-ness for my parents and me. Woohoo! We are! <3 #ftg
And for my last piece of my Sunday Smorgasbord . . . I’ve been busy this year at school with a LOT of different and a lot of new…. again. Even though I actually got to stay in the same grade level with the same team for once…we have an entire new Reading Series, I’m revamping how I teach math (I love reinventing wheels to help my kids! no, seriously!), and we are being evaluated this year completely (and intensely) different, too. Ever heard of OTES? Welp . . .we have. It’s kind of like my student teaching portfolio times a bajillion annnnd a bit more important. It’s alll about the evidence and PROOF that I’m meeting the standards that a Skilled, or dare I say Accomplished, teacher should be meeting. So I got my self organized a bit at the very beginning of the year, but I need to start collecting my proof. This is where/when Ashley’s problem solving technique go-to, “Make a Binder”, comes in. Binders are what keep me most organized. Period. (well, those and postits. and planners. and highlighters. crap.) SO with a little bit of chevron, and some fun fonts and frames . . . I created THIS to get my binder making butt in gear…
