Never have I ever linked up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday, so I’m excited to be linking up for the first time today – even though it’s a Sunday 🙂 I hope it still counts. haha. Fridays are busy, Saturdays are crazy, annnd Sundays are the first I get to hit pause soooo here it goes!
First – since it is Sunday and all, I wanted to let you all see what’s cookin’ today. I’m pretty sure that I’ve said it before that the crock pot makes me feel like I actually can cook pretty decently…. but it STILL makes me nervous to try something new in the crock pot even if it is a “set-it-and-forget-it” kind of recipe . . . here’s the new recipe that my house is permeated with right now . . .
We had a Crock Pot cook book in which we found a very similar recipe, but head HERE to check out the french dip recipe we are giving a try in the crock pot today 🙂
Here’s what the remainder of my Sunday looks like . . . .surrounded in school work, coffee in hand, and Crock Pot heaven! As my dad would say . . .”That’s what I’m talkin’ about!”
Speaking of dad…
I’ve said before that my parents are the best. Better than the best. They don’t get any more rock-star than mine. Well, with that being said, I’m 30, and the main idea of the conversation with my mom this morning was “What do you want for Christmas?”. I’m not kidding when I tell you that she STILL makes sure that the gifts aren’t under the tree for us until Santa comes on Christmas morning. I can’t even pretend that I don’t love it. “I feel like a kid on Christmas” is QUITEEEE the understatement every December 25th. And now Ryan #1 (my hubby) and Ryan #2 (seester’s newww hubby) get to be a part of our Christmas Day, too . . . (suddenly, I want to decorate and bake cookies. . .I LOVE CHRISTMAS)
ANYWAYYYYY my point . . . I asked Santa . . . and my rockstar parents . . . for a printer this year! After taking the TPT plunge this year, and finding and saving and sharing and using wayyyy more WONDERFUL resources from all of my talented teacher friends than I can count, I figured it would be worth it to have a printer (and laminator) of my own to attempt to keep up with it all! There are only so many hours in a day that I can spend at school (I push the limit some days), so laminating and printing at home sounds wayyy better to me . . . SO . . . do you have tips or suggestions for me about a printer?!?
I’d love your printer tips, especially! Leave me a comment or email me with your advice!!
I teach in Ohio, and my kids have been brainwashed into being Penn State fans. I flippin’ love it and this week, the kiddo who dressed up as a Penn State football player on Halloween wrote this letter to me.
I can’t even take the adorableness. I love that he calls it “The Penn State”. Seriously, I don’t even think any other words are necessary. 🙂
He also wrote this on his P page of his Thankful ABCs book by A Burst of First . . . .
Definitely a highlight of my week that I just had to share. . .
Speaking of highlights . . .
There are some things that I just CAN’T get enough of . . .Target Dollar Spot anyone?!?!
I was there to buy pizza and a gift bag . . . and I left with new notepads and a pencil pouch . . I took this beautiful sky that I saw on the way in as a sign that my trip to Target was mission: “cheer up sick Ashley…”
Fact: new notepads always cheer up Ashley. 🙂 I’m not alone on this, right?!?!
Ya know what else I can’t get enough of this year either?!?! FLIP FLAP BOOKS! My kids are obsessed. So I created a set of Reading Response Flip Flap Books last weekend that can be used with essentially any fiction or non fiction book that your kiddos are reading.
Click the image above to take a closer look! I hope you can use them with your kiddos. too!! 🙂
And FINALLY, I’m SO SO SO excited to share with you all that I was invited to be a part of a collaborative teaching blog!!! I have learned from and been inspired by SO many awesome teachers these last several months, and I am very very soon to be joining several of those talented teachers on a journey to begin our own Collaborative Blog! This whole last week, we used the image above to poll our followers for blog name suggestions (poll now closed:) ), and I can’t wait to announce soon what blog name we go with! 🙂 More to come on that SO SO SOON. 🙂
I hope you all are having a relaxing or productive Sunday. 🙂 They’re both winners in my book!
Head over to Doodle Bugs Teaching to see what everyone else was up to this week! 🙂
