So it’s been a blah kind of week for me so far, so as I was headed to bed and spotted the Christmas Questionnaire Linky by Michelle at Fabulous in First, I thought that Christmas-ing would be a perfect way to rid the blah right out of me and put a spring back in my step before tomorrow 🙂 Click the button below to link up, too!
I also thought this might be a fun way for you to get to know a little bit more about me and my favorite parts of my favorite holiday!
Hot Chocolate or Eggnog?
Um . . .can I answer coffee?? Hot chocolate for sure. Eggnog is just gross.
Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them underneath the tree?
Oh Santa wraps alright. My mom and dad Santa still, to this day, doesn’t even put the gifts under the tree until Christmas morning . . . – and I JUST TURNED 30! Santa wraps, Santa color coordinates, Santa makes Christmas special, and Santa stacks the gifts super orderly and picture perfectly.
Colored lights or white?
WHITE!!! I’ll accent the decor with color but I LOVE love love the white lights. Here are a few pictures of my dad’s masterpiece:)
When do you decorate?
Not early enough. Our Thanksgiving break is usually spent in a car visiting family and friends out of state and out of town, so we don’t get to decorate Thanksgiving weekend. Then, this year, we had a wedding the first weekend of December that we were in out of town, so we didn’t get to decorate then. With that being said, the house is decorated, but the tree hasn’t been bought yet!! :/ Yikes. . . . it’s the first thing on the agenda this weekend. As long as we’re decorated before December 15th ish, I’m okay with that. We tear it all down New Years Day 🙂
Real or Fake Tree?
Real tree alllll the way. Last year being our first Christmas in our house was our first year with a real tree of our own . I grew up with a real tree, too. <3 Here’s a picture of our first real tree. First thing to buy this year? MORE LIGHTS!! It’s just not bright enough!
What Tops Your Tree?
A bow! I’m not the craftiest girl on the planet, so that bow took a LOT of effort. And being 5′ 0” made it no small feat to get that bow to the top!!
Favorite Christmas Memories or Traditions?
Before getting married and moving out of mom and dad’s house, the Christmas tree hunt was my favorite tradition for sure. We’d all pile in my dad’s truck, head up the (usually icy) mountain, have a few cocktails while marking THE tree with gloves or empty cups, chop down our tree, and head back home to warm up with crockpotted chili before spending the rest of the day decorating. Last year, my hubby and I were able to start our own Christmas tree hunt of our own, and I’m looking forward to continuing both traditions for years to come.
Here’s mum falling slipping on the ice during our hunt for the perfect tree a few years ago.
Here we are on our FIRST Christmas tree hunt last year 🙂
Do you remember your favorite gift as a child?
For sure. My favorite gift(s) as a child was the year that I got a super Nintendo and a computer! This was the year that I was teetering on the brink of not hearing the bell, if ya get my drift, and when Santa came through with both of those that year, I heard the bell loud and clear. 🙂
Do prefer giving or receiving?
Can I love both?!?! I seriously LOVE the whole process of Christmas-ing. I love buying for and giving to my family and friends who are nearest and dearest to me, but I also love anticipating what Santa will come up with next year after year! I just LOVE Christmas. <3
What is your favorite Christmas song?
The entire ‘Nsync Christmas album. Period. I jam to this starting on Thanksgiving Day every. single. year. I’ll be Home for Christmas tops the list – now more so for obvious reasons – and it gets me EVERY time <3. Hey mum, I’ll be home for Christmas <3
Candy Canes. Yuck or Yum?
Eh. In my hot chocolate as a stirring stick – heck yes! Just to munch on? Nah. I’d rather something gummy, or chocolatey, or coffee flavored . . . 🙂
Favorite Christmas Movie?
ELF! It just makes me smile. I also love Four Christmases. I think Reese Witherspoon is adorable!
Do you shop online or at stores?
Usually a little bit of both, but this year I went on a shopping mission 2 different days (I’m pretty sure I lost an entire day in Kohl’s and Target) and as of 3 hours ago I am DONE with Christmas shopping 2013!! All that’s left to do is bake and add a few plates of cookies and candy to a few gifts, and it’s time to wrap!!
Photo Cards, Letter or Store Bought Card?
Well – I send the plain store bought ones. “Just the 2 of us” doesn’t equal photo card to me….HOWEVER I LOVE LOVE LOVE receiving the photo cards – especially now that in the last few years, our card walls have been filled with photo cards of beautiful new babies! 🙂 We have some beautiful friends with ridiculously beautiful families and I LOVE displaying our cards each year in our kitchen!
Ok – the blah is officially gone – I’m in a totally Christmassy mood, and I can’t wait to hear what you have to say to these same questions! Don’t forget to link up with us at Michelle’s blog, Fabulous in First!!!
Happy (almost) Wednesday friends<3
