Reasons to LOVE Periscope

Have you heard of Periscope yet? Please say yes.  NO?! Periscope is on FIRE in the world of teachers these days, and ENTREPRENEURS have fallen in love with Periscope, too!  I wanted to stop by the blog today to bring you a quick run down of my new favorite app that I’ve been in love with since July.  I want to tell you briefly what it is, what it isn’t, why I love it, and the teachers that you MUST must MUST follow on Periscope

Periscope is a LIVE STREAMING video app – a FREE app – on IOS and Android devices, that allows you to watch, interact during, and broadcast your own SCOPES! You can watch your favorite teachers and take a behind the scenes look inside of their classrooms during their Periscopes, you can GROW through professional development as you interact with and ask questions during a Periscope all about “The best ways to Engage your Learners”, and you can SHARE YOUR EXPERTISE by broadcasting a scope of your own!

Last summer, Angie Olson from Lucky Little Learners and I brought the TpT Vegas conference to teachers LIVE VIA PERISCOPE.  The buzz about Periscope caught FIRE in our teaching community, and it is now one of the HOTTEST places for teachers to go to snag an idea, to gain inspiration, to connect with other teachers in their grade level, and to even FLIP THE CAMERA and to share their OWN juicy tips and tricks that work in their classroom!

 Now that you’ve got some tips to get your started with the app itself, I want to tell you why – after 7 months of being on the Periscope – I LOVE Periscope.  Because y’all.  I LOVE PERISCOPE.

I shared my WHY I PERISCOPE and WHY YOU SHOULD TOO message on Periscope with my periscope teacher friends.  Below is a replay of the scope.  The energy was HIGH and there were SO many of my teacher friends in the comments eager to jump into Periscoping, too!

I learn something new from EVERY single scope I join.  EVERYONE has something valuable to bring to Periscope – especially TEACHERS! Hit that button.  Bring us your GOLDEN NUGGETS of tips and tricks that work in your classroom! WE WANT TO HEAR IT!

I have made SO many new friends and have learned SO much from them SOLELY via Periscope.  These new connections have made me a better person – they have made me a better teacher – they have opened my eyes to ideas/angles/thoughts that otherwise never would have made their way into my head – the connections and the GROWTH {professionally and personally} is TREMENDOUS for me.  I know it will be valuable for you, too!

I LOVE being able to share my personality, my passion, and my energy for teaching in SUCH an authentic way on Periscope.  Periscope teachers are the most PASSIONATE people and most PASSIONATE teachers I know.  When you log into a passionate teacher’s scope, you know within the first 30 seconds.  And if YOU share that passion for teaching with me, YOU NEED TO GET ON PERISCOPE, TOO! People are DYING to hear what you’re passionate about and why!

I also love that people really get to know me and my personality on Periscope.  There’s only so much of my personality and enthusiasm than I can put into a blog post, and Periscope allows me to throw it in CONSTANTLY and OH SO authentically!

Periscope is SO much fun.  Whether you’re the one broadcasting scoping or you’re in the comments, Periscope will fuel your teacher fire.  Periscope fills me with new ideas, re-newed energy, inspiration, it’s ENDLESS.

Additionally, I have made SO many new connections on Periscope, and I don’t want YOU to miss out on these connections!  Below, I’ve shared with you 6 teacher accounts that you MUST follow NOW on Periscope.  They bring quality content to every scope, and you’ll want to stop what you’re doing and join their scopes immediately!  They will force you to grab a notebook {because you’ll learn a TON} anddd be careful because watching them scope might give you JUST the kick in the butt that you need to JUMP ON AND SCOPE for yourself!

Sheila is GOLD on Periscope.  Whether you’re a teacher, a teacher entrepreneur, a Target lover, or a teacher that might be stuck in a bit of a rut, SHEILA JANE’S SCOPES ARE A MUST WATCH.  I adore Sheila, and you won’t want to miss one scope of hers!  Sheila also has a blog post all about the top teachers on Periscope that you’ll want to check out, too!

Jess is brilliant, she’s whimsical, she’s HILARIOUS, she’s creative, she’s HELPFUL, she’s my friend, and she is PERFECT on Periscope.  She will bring you AWESOME ideas and strategies to use in your classroom, GENIUS tips to use as a Teachers Pay Teachers author, and that morning pep talk that you didn’t even know you needed.  She’s a MUST WATCH on ‘scope!

Professional Development anyone? FREE professional development anyone?!?
